Dartmoor National Park, UK

I am on a journey that started off exploring mental health but has lead to exploring something much greater

Hi my name is Georgina McBurney but I usually go with a shortened Georgie or George. I am an eternal student, and love passing on useful learning to others. I use my blog as a platform to share, and explore my research and experiences.

I work full time taking calls from people in emergency situations, a new path since Covid, but a role that I have done before many many chapters ago. I am a writer for Equine Leadership Magazine and am currently writing a book on difficult endings for kinship foster carers. I enjoy painting animals or channelled art and I am grateful to spend dailly time with ponies Jac, Pixie and Timmy who all live within a larger herd on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.

Spiritual Counsellor

I have trained with CPCAB in Humanistic Integrative Counselling (Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Person Centred), and Psycho-spiritual Counselling (Transpersonal, Psychosynthesis).

Equine ReWilding

I have trained with LEAP in Equine Psycotherapy and then allowed the horse herds I had the honor to work with to guide and develop this further into the expanse of ReWilding with horses at liberty.

Spiritual Practice

I have studied spiritual development, shamanic practice, reiki and journeyed with human, angelic, elven and animal guides to discover more about the psyche and the meaning of creation.

Healing Modalities

I am a Reiki Master and have studied Kinesiology, Essential Oil Therapy and zoopharmacognosy. I have a keen interest in herbs and homeopathy and connecting to nature and the Earth.

Counsellor & Coach

2016 – 2020

I have volunteered for Steps to wellbeing (NHS referrals) and Help Counselling (for young persons). Whilst at Penn Hill GP Surgery as a counsellor and lead NHS Health Coach for Behaviour Change, I set up a Mental Health Support Group, and a counselling service to support surgery patients and trainee counsellors.

Teaching & Lecturing

2007 – 2020

I have worked as a Secondary Biology/Science teacher and as a science lecturer Animal and Equine Dept for both Higher and Further Education. I wrote a BTec diploma in Equine Management and became the Programme Leader. More recently teaching various workshops on psycho-education and Inner Child Therapy and facilitated Mind OUT (LGBTQ).

“When we rediscover our connection to The Great Web of Life the experience is often transformational”.

Equine/Eco Therapy

2017 – 2020

I have supported HALO (Dorset), Paintedhorse (Glastonbury), Equine Earth (Gloucestershire), Fhare Ltd (Dorset). This work included supporting Key4Life charity with their rehabilitation of young offenders with Equine Therapy, running Woodland with Equine Retreats and Confidence Building for Equine Enthusiasts.

Self Employment

2010 – 2020

I originally created an Animal Behaviour and Health business for pets, then expanded to include therapies for owners due to their connection. I have been a finalist for Influential Woman (Dorset) for my role as a kinship foster carer. More recently I set up private practice as a spritual counsellor and was a freelance counsellor for Dorset MIND for blue line services.

This blogsite contains information, insights, self-care and personal experience working in the fields of mental health and spiritual development as a Counsellor, Equine Facilitated Practitioner, Reiki Master and holistic therapist; with acknowledgment to my earlier careers in the Police and Army.
